They need adequate worming (talk to Eddy about developing a worming program tailored for your calves) and Copper supplementation BEFORE the facial eczema season starts and they then will need Zinc (as Copper and Zinc should not be given at the same time).
These treatments can be done on farm yourself, or you can book one of the vets to come out and administer them for you. We have Copper Bullet Guns available for loan for you to treat your calves - please phone in advance to ensure we have one in the clinic.
Click on the link above to download a pdf detailing what treatments are needed and also an order form to allow you to pre-order your Copper treatments, Prolaject B12 + Selenium and request farm delivery if desired.

Today, the 23rd of July 2012, the South Waikato Veterinary Services Website has gone live! Explore the website, check out our services, download some Newsletters, learn about dairy cow diseases and sign up for News and Article updates.
This website is aimed at you, our clients, whether you own a farm, lifestyle block, or a companion cat, dog, bird, rabbit... or all of the above.
The Farm Animal Services link describes what we offer to our farm clients, information on when to book, how we operate and how you can help.
The Dairy Resources link takes you to information on diseases and common management practices for Dairy Cattle. Each tab covers what causes a certain disease, how to recognise it, and then how to prevent, manage or treat it. Extra information on how to deal with Downer Cows or Mineral Supplements is also included.
The Small Animal Services link covers both what we offer to our companion animal clients, and has extra tabs for client info on topics like treatment for Fleas, or what to do if your dog is pregnant.
Our News and Articles page will be aimed mainly at our dairy clients. The latest three postings will be on the first page. We highly recommend to all of our farm clients that they sign up to the RSS Feed on the News and Articles page. This means an email will be sent to you each and every time we update the page (but don’t worry - we will not spam you!). For example, we aim to update regularly with spore counts, provide forms to fill in (i.e. Dry Cow), share relevant articles or even upcoming events like the Farmers Welcome In. There may be more frequent updates in the months immediately after the website goes live, but they should slow down once we have all the information we want online.
Both our Dairy and Small Animal Newsletters will be made available to download under the Newsletters link, in case you missed out. Check out our our Clinics and Staff page to check out where we are, and who works here.
The Links tab will take you to a list of external websites that may be useful, including further information on Infovet and Dog Training here in Tokoroa.
If you have any comments or suggestions about the website, or ideas about some information you would like available, do not hesitate to phone the clinic - we will take your thoughts on board!
